CTM was recently touring the lovely falls in Ranchi. This time Rajesh was the transport incharge with his car!!.. wowee!!. We all had a wonderful time. Following is a small travelogue of that trip. Click Here to go to the pictures direct.
Day 1
Rajesh, sashi , abu , bansod , epuru and ali preferred
spending the weekend leading to Id-Ul-Fitr in RANCHI ..having got 4 days holidays , making a quick travelling plan ..we were on board to ranchi. sashi abu and rajesh hailing from ranchi itself acted as hosts to welcome the other three guys. We reached there on saturday morning and after a shower we succumbed to the call of the bed and slept for most of the first half.
But then we had elaborate plans for the day and not much time
on our hands to waste in slumbers so we had to act fast. the masti began with a heavy lunch at rajesh's house. rajesh's mother and his folks had made plans to knock us down for we were left licking our fingers when the lunch ended. our spirits weren't satiated but our stomachs were ....By the time we finished we were in no shape to leave for our evening schedule...
Anyway we did leave for the ROCK GARDENS in the outskirts of the city.. a lovely place , especially viewing the sunset at the
river( name ???? ) .
we did also visit ACQUAWORLD enroute which boasted of a large collection of fishes from around the world , displayed
for the viewers. it was late evening when we returned back and decided to spend the evening loitering around the most famous n frequented shopping mall of Ranchi..... A/C market
which does boast of more than a 'acha timepass' at evenings .. the loonnggg day was coming to a conclusions and we tired souls retired to our homes but before that we did work out the next days plan which was to visit the nearby PANCHGHAT FALLS and HIRNI FALLS.
Day 2
As per plans we assembled together and left for Panchghats , situated on the outskirts of Ranchi, around 50 kms from ranchi . we had taken home prepared food with us and were to be carried on by Rajesh's car. We reached Panch Ghat by the time the sun was overhead and was making it's presence felt. Much to our surprise , the first appearance of the place dissapointed us
for we discovered that it was severely devoid of it's famed quota of waters and the main fall was reduced to a mere trickle show. It was some local kid who brought our hopes back when he pointed and took us to those spots where the water flowed and and we could bathe in there. One particular fall was very apt for bathing and we had aptly nicknamed it as "THE BATH TUB FALL " for it's shape, and each of us took turns to cool
off here in this natural bath tub. ( u can watch abu and epuru with that blissful looks on their faces here).
After this stint with the water was over we sat over the rocks and had our lunch. it was a delicious combination of sweet raita and spicy jackfruit with PULAO that sothed out tummies. Thus PanchGhat proved to be a coolplace indeed. We turned towards our next destination HIRNI FALLS which we later discovered proved to be a misadventure. HIRNI falls didn't appeal much( the water was a lil muddy ), though the height of the fall was intimidating. It was quite rocky n slippery but being dissapointed at not getting for what we had come so far , we hiked up and were relaxing on the rocks, clicking the pics ,when one of the guys ali miscalculated the width of a channel ,as he was hopping to go over it and crashed onto the rocks ,which made a gash in his soles , enough to have our attentions turned onto him till he rested in bed after an anaesthetic stitch operation . Though this unfortunate incident did bring a change in the mood of the day but we continued on with our schedule which included the dinner hosted by Shashi. It was hogging time again and as we ate, talked and made jokes the tension of the day started to melt off and we ended up pampering our stomachs once again.
The next day had it's own promises for JONAH and SITA falls beckoned us
Day 3
The highlight of the days were the JONAH FALLS and the SITA FALLS. Though we had thought of visiting DASHAM FALLS as well but being a notorious place and a high risk prone area, and having already had one accident among us we gave up that idea. Jonah was to be reached by train and as the group reached their
destination ,being welcomed by the out of season rains in the process, they were delighted for the place was really beautiful..( ably supported by the breathtaking photographs !!!) though it wasn't fit enough to invite us to have a go for bathing , the sceneic beauty captured us for a long time. by the time we were ready to leave , we had captured enough of the place .
Sita falls , had the promise of being very close by and that made us go for it. Little did we knew then that it would be one long afternoon, walking in the sun, for that forbidden place didn't appear in vision before we had covered more than 16 kms and took about an hour. The walk really took its toll. But at last we reached Sita and felt relieved..It certainly was appealing to the eyes and when we left it. that meant a farewell to the falls of ranchi for the next day had a luncheon at abu's residence and that had the promise of something good as it was also the occasion of Id-Ul-Fitra and hence various goodies awaited them.
Day 4
After having seen enough of the falls( and especially the ardous and energy sapping journey to the Sita Falls, which left some of the memebers with a weight loss of more than 2 kgs !!) the mood of the group was to relax but not to give up hogging for the home milieu presented with such excellent opportunities that it would be criminal to give up on that. Tuesday , the 6th of Feb , was a good opportunity and today it was Abu's turn
to host the lunch. It being Id-Ul-Azha , abu ( with the exclusive support of his mother ) was fully prepared to handle the situation . The festive occasion brought some cheers as did the Mutton and Beef chops and curries. After the servings of SEWAI ,typical of the ID's , came the turn of the PULAO,MUTTON CURRY and after the lumch , we had a surprise for the injured ali. Ali was allowed to have his birthday Cake , two days ahead of his birthday as we all celebrated his 23'rd birthday.
After the hearty meal the group retired onto the bedroom for the heavy meal had made us heavy. talking, laughing and teasing we all realised that the trip was coming to and end and we had to catch the evening train back to kgp ( and eat in the mess that day !!!) Those four days went away fast , but then we had our share of fun and it was great to move and enjoy in a group , for each one of us are bound to get lost in the maze of life after we graduate out in about a month and a half. That we will ever get a chance to travel in such a fun-packed and exciting group remains to be seen.
